Q: Is the Living Vine a shelter?

The Living Vine is not a shelter.  We are a program that focuses on providing structure, spiritual growth, life skills, education, and access to workforce certification programs needed to empower moms to transform their future.

Q: What are the education options while at The Vine?

Any resident who has not completed their high school diploma will work on obtaining their GED.  For those with a high school diploma, further education options, and certification programs can be explored.

Q: What is the cost to stay at The Living Vine?

Housing and services are at no cost to the residents, however residents are to be active participants in the transformation process, and are expected to attend all programming requirements.

Q: What is expected of a resident?

An open heart, an open mind, and a deep desire to want to work towards  transforming their life and life of their baby.

Q: If I have other children, are they allowed to live at The Vine?

The Living Vine does not have programs or space for additional children.

Q: Am I required to have Insurance?

The Living Vine requires all residents to have medicaid, or private insurance.

Q: Are you affiliated with any church or denomination?

We are a faith-based organization with a Biblical worldview but are not affiliated with one specific church or denomination.  We accept pregnant women from any background, denomination, race or religion.

Q: How long can I stay at The Living Vine?

Residents who participate and progress in the program can stay for up to 2 years from admission date.

Q: Can I work while at The Living Vine?

During the Prenatal phase of the program, women are encouraged to work at Blessingdales. After delivery, the resident moves into the Transition phase of the program and is ready to gain employment.

Q: How do I provide for my basic needs if I’m not working?

By participating in the programming, residents earn Vine Bucks. Vine Bucks are used to purchase basic need items.

Q: Do I have to place my baby for adoption?

Mothers have the right to make the choice on whether to parent or adopt.  Those who choose to make an adoption plan are provided with adoption resources and counseling so that moms can determine the best plan for herself and her child.

Q: Can the father of the baby visit?

Weekly visits with the father can be scheduled to take place at The Vine.

Q: How long does the Application process take?

Approximately two weeks, depending on how long it takes for the applicant to submit needed documents.
